It is a distinct honor to welcome you, on behalf of your District Governors-Elect to the Pacific Northwest Presidents-Elect Training Seminar. This may well be the most important training event in which you ever take part, because club president is undeniably the most important position in Rotary.
I personally have attended many PETS as president-elect, assistant governor, governor nominee designate and governor nominee; and countless other seminars and conferences not related to Rotary. That experience allows me to confidently tell you that PNW PETS represents a first rate value. Your DGE’s and the Operating Committee are committed to the pursuit of excellence in curriculum, training, speakers and atmosphere. We know you are giving your most precious resource, your time, to participate this weekend, and that it must be well spent for you, and for your club. I can also tell you that whether you are an incoming president, an assistant governor, trainer or in the DG line, there is something for you this weekend. You’ll acquire knowledge and insights that will enhance not only your Rotary endeavors, but also your personal and professional skills. It has been said that “the answer is always in the room”, and nowhere is that more evident than right here PETS weekend. Our highly qualified training leaders will draw that out during your “official” sessions, and you will draw that out during the myriad opportunities for fellowship. One recent participant wrote: “As a person who is not overly outgoing, I found it so easy to fit in and meet my fellow PE’s, DG’s, AG’s, etc. I enjoyed every moment of PETS.”
Finally, there is a contingent of Rotaract leaders – the Rotary presidents of tomorrow – with us this weekend. Be sure to say hello when you see them and enjoy their enthusiasm and insights.
Wishing you the very best in the most important year you’ll have as a Rotarian!
